A few thoughts on Occupy Wall Street, I've been watching it and going down there for a while now but hadn't had a chance to speak on it.

By the way when I say some news media people are "ringers," I don't necessarily mean that they deliberately obfuscate, or get orders from some shadowy figure to do so. I think they'll often just have a personal investment in the system and status quo that's being critiqued/threatened, so they'll naturally--without any need to conspire--have their perception skewed by an instinct to protect the status quo they're invested in. So though it's quite possibly not their intention to play the ringer, it's the function they wind up serving nonetheless.

Are you thinking that we actually have a democracy? Where people actually pick candidates that care about them? That these candidates aren't handpicked by corporations? Money buys politics. Wall Street buys politics. Yes, DC allowed it to happen, only because they're wall street's puppets. We live in a monopoly game where it is OK for the guy with the most money to change the rule book.

I support Occupy Wallstreet. I support gay rights. I'm not a fan of organized religion. And you are an asshole who jumped to conclusions about my character because I have a problem with rape. Go fuck yourself.

    where did I say that?

I was just stopping by to mock the occupy campout crew. I told them before it even happened that it was pointless, made no sense, & would be an enormous waste of time, energy & resources that could be put to better use in realistic ways.

So, judging by the assumption you pulled out of your ass, I'm "right" because I "won" the arguments concerning how effective the campout would be.

(BTW- Capitalism is ingrained in the very idea of ownership. Get off your high horse.)

So by your definition, winning affirms rightness? If OWS didn't bring about a paradigm shift away from Neo-liberal ideology, it must have been wrong?

I don't suppose the fact that Capitalism has been thoroughly ingrained in our society had anything to do with it. Nah, it couldn't have had anything to do with the apathy of humans OWS must have just been completely wrong.

    Your circular logic baffles me.

So you don't have a legitimate argument to make against what OWS stands for? If you want to define a movement based on the individual actions of some of its "participants" (and "participants in the movement may be difficult to prove as this was an open air, "come as you are" assemblage), you had better give up on all political parties, organized religions, businesses, etc.

I suppose all Catholics are pedophiles and all Anti-Gay Rights Republican politicians are secretly homosexual.

lol remember ows? what a failure that was. They camped their little hearts out (while it was warm), & yet somehow they still couldn't manage to force one banker to step down. Maybe this year they should try a BBQ or a kickball game. That should show the world who's in charge!

scumbags take advantage of women in public places too, film at 11. rapists must be stopped, often punished, far more than they currently are. but can you grasp how that is an entirely separate issue from what the occupy movement is/was about? welcome to derailingfordummiesdotcom

reminded me of a great encapsulation i came across recently AND NOW CAN'T FIND, grrr. might have been greg palast. anyway, the gist is "by the time someone has become a viable candidate for president, that person is NOT 'for the people'."
