This is a quick video showing the SunDisk 16GB in action. Demonstrating loading out-of-region games through a software loader (GeckoOS) and in-region games through disc channel (WiiSports).
It can do this yes - If you put in a burned disc, and don't have another mod chip (most people wouldn't) it'll read it back at 3x using the dvd-video calls, like the homebrew loaders do. The advantage though, is it will continue to work regardless of system menu updates, you don't need homebrew and the discs can run using the intended vanilla IOS versions. It behaves just like drivekey/sunkey etc with burnt discs.
You are right though, that at the moment, a USB loader is a good option too.
Sundisk seems OK and all but does it play burned Wii games from a DVD without homebrew?
If not what is the point it only has 16GB of memory I think it would be better just to buy USB hard drive and run a USB loader
