A peaceful transition of power from one president to another in Ghana is an example many Ghanians hope other African countries will follow. In January 2009, Freddy's Brooklyn Roundhouse spent 3 weeks in Ghana. By happenstance, we arrived on the day of the run off Presidential election and then got to spend a week with the rest of the country awaiting the announcement of the results. It was a good introduction for us to the political climate of Ghana and Western Africa and a strong testament to the democratic and peaceful roots the country is growing and spreading. We were privileged to attend the Presidential Inauguration ceremony as guests of an Ashanti Queen mother who we also stayed with. So while the rest of you were in DC jubilating for President Obama, this is what was happening on another side of the Atlantic.
Very interesting
