  • @mbenzsl2000 I tried this. My marines got bored and starting killing civilians. Now what do I do?

  • Every year for the last 3 years I watch this episode every Thanksgiving Eve in preparation of deep frying my bird. Follow directions as he says, don't try to get fancy with spices/injections, and be as safe as possible (minus maybe that ladder) and you too will have an amazing Turkey.

    Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!

  • @littleshoeshopper while that will take out the risk of catching on fire you still have the exact same changes of boil over and burns... just so you know...

  • I think what I'll do instead is heat the oil up to 350 then turn the fire off put the turkey in cover with the lid then light the fire back. I think that's safe and simple at the same time.

  • @KatiushaVN4

    Maybe Bigfoot made the drink.

  • Stupid Alton. He said that: he should stay put no matter what and don't go anywhere even when his beverage runs out. But look, he made the Bigfoot a drink after he'd deposited the bird into the pot. Shame on him!

  • If I were alton brown...I would make sure there were a couple armed, United States Marines guarding my turkey at all times as well.....A "turkey derrick" like that will draw attention....too much attention...

  • 250 degrees is way too low to begin frying. If you use the correct amount of oil for your bird and slowly drop the DRY bird in then there shouldn't be excessive boil over. At a starting temp of only 250 degrees that cold turkey will drop the temp even further and the bird will absorb a lot of oil rather than searing the surface of the bird...the exact opposite of what you want to do when frying.

Sure there is some danger in frying a turkey so how about bringing the oil up to full temp then t

  • @MrTommybadger There isn't a single consumer ladder in america that is made to withstand over ~250lbs

The holes won't be the reason that ladder lets go.

  • This is so unecessarily complicated; and yet I am doing it exactly this way, siren and all this Thanksgiving.
