i dunno if they were all bowling off cutters, but all of them release the ball with fingers running down the side of the ball. may account for a lack of speed, if only a little bit.
@Ricki145 Yeah I know what you mean. He does prepare his bound perfectly for a front on action but then has to turn his body dramatically in the to get into a side on alignment (which could possibly be the reason for the slight hyper extension). Hopefully his coaches can sort him out and get his bound and back foot strike correct, and also question the bowler to see which sort of action he feels comfortable with (I don't why but something tells me a midway action might be more appropriate)
@Killer0274 Maybe, however I was referring to how his hip begins to rotate into a side on position and then stop halfway in a somewhat jerky manner. It looks a little unnatural and that's why I wondered if he was being instructed to straighten it up. Normally bowlers with a side on action would also lead with his left shoulder a couple of steps before the delivery, rather than that sudden rotation. I may be wrong however.
@Ricki145 I'm confused... how do you the coaches were forcing the players to bowl front on? When I observed the third bowler he had a side on action, but he was just slightly hyper extending on back foot strike. This is why his left shoulder was not correctly aligned and gave the impression of a midway or front on action.
wow, there are some really really straight bowlers here. I'm concerned however that bowlers are being taught to bowl front on even if they naturally wouldn't. bowler 3 looked like he had a natural side-on action, and was being forced to bowl front on.
Can you check out my latest bowling video?.. you seem to know what your talking about and i want to know if i'm doing everything ok. I'm a bit worried about my body. I'm usually sore the next day after a net session or game. But it's off season and my body isn't conditioned at the moment. I'm a leg spinner turned pace bowler :) thanks!
The smoothest action is of the 1st bowler, I am concerned about bowler number 3 because it looks like he has mixed action. Get it right brother, you will be able to bowl for more years without injuries. 1 tip to all, Keep the nose facing the target, and whole body should go towards the target, Nice and Straight. Good luck.
