Video on your website increases engagement with your visitors and extends the amount of time theyll spend on your website. On Websites with video, the average visitor stays for 6 minutes. On Websites without video, the average visitor stays for 57 seconds.
Video engages people like this because it involves more of their senses. For instance, a man was traveling through Africa. There was a woman selling oranges, but instead of sitting on the side of the street, she cut up her oranges and said, Try this orange, smell it, taste it, look how beautiful it is. He tasted the orange and he was hooked. Video is like this too—it helps sell through involving more of the senses. Its sight, sound, music, human voices, all of these things engage us.
Video also increases engagement through telling a story. For instance, an ad for jam doesnt say, This is jam you can put on your bread. It says, This jam was made from a recipe passed down for generations. It all began in the misty forests of Bavaria where they grow the sweetest fruits in the world. Much more appealing, dont you think? Videos are a great medium for storytelling, since theyre visual and emotional.
