if this doesn't knock your socks off, what else could? this is one of my all time favourite pieces to play in almost any concert i play, and also a dazzling postlude! I love even starting a concert with this piece, or the Final of Vierne 6. Always nice to warm up, right?
Ton Koopman has LONG been the Bach player I admire most on the organ. Phenomenally energetic playing, crisp, fun, dance like, lyrical, virtuosic and above all dance-like. Smash ending.
For the trio sections, I go to the Oberwerke, taking off pedal reeds. Creates a wonderful welcome relief and lighter detailed contrast to the powerful arpeggio sections, and allows one to build to the arpeggio sections.

We are so fortunate that they were able to save the pipework of the organ, whilst it is sad that the original case was lost at least we can hear this monumental baroque wonder!
by far one of Bach's many great toccattas and fugues. I've probably heard this song 100 times, its really a wonderful piece if you listen to it carefully with a sharp ear. I always seem to get something out of this song everytime I listen to it, but I just don't know what. Really what made this song stand out, and so unique, was the pipe organ that it was played on, it was masterfully played, and tuned to perfection. LONG LIVE THE KING OF INSTRUMENTS!!!
In the second pedal solo there is one section that must be shifted up an octave, Then when it goes into F# Minor or E Minor He has to go down an octave because there is no e or e-flat in the pedals there are many cases of that though. The short octave in the Manuals also causes Koopman to have to play parts in the hands an octave higher! The ,man is crazy and Fearless! Nerves of Diamond not steel! With ornaments as fast as light and as accurate as a samurai's sword made of Diamond!
