The Oregon Humane Society is asking for the public's help in finding the owner of a neglected dog who was abandoned this morning at the OHS shelter on NE Columbia Blvd. The dog, a tan female American Pit Bull, has numerous scars, possibly from fighting, a broken tooth, and is extremely thin.

A man was caught on videotape at 9:05 am this morning tying the dog to a side entrance of the OHS shelter on 1067 NE Columbia Blvd in Portland. OHS does not know if the man seen on the videotape is the dog's owner.

"This dog is in poor condition and we are asking the public for help in locating the owner and helping us learn more about its history and immediate medical needs," said Linda Fielder, OHS Investigations Manager.

"People should never abandon an animal like this," said Fielder. "It's not only a crime in Oregon but it puts the health and safety of the animal at risk." OHS accepts thousands of pets each year from the public and offers resources for people who cannot afford to care for their pet. "If you can't care for your pet any longer, the last thing you should do is abandon it," said Fielder. "Please call OHS or your local shelter first."

The dog abandoned this morning has numerous scars on its face and legs, a broken tooth, and is underweight. She is very friendly toward people and is eating well. She is not available for adoption at this time as her owner is still being sought.

If you have information about the dog or its owner, please call OHS Investigations Dept. at (503) 285-7722, ext. 214. You can also go to. You can also visit the OHS Website and submit information online at http://www.oregonhumane.org/services/report_neglect_abuse.asp

  • ... Man's best friend... ._.

  • Putz....he did not seserve that dog anyway.

  • :'(

  • @TheMermaidsiren1 agreed!

  • Having a pet? Remember : You are responsible for its !

Don't want a pet any more? Leave it in kennel - cause your responsibility can ends there - knowing that the pet has at least some conditions to live!!!

The worst thing you can do is leaving a dog/cat far away from people f.ex in the forest - he will surely die!

  • "leaving u is the hardest day of my life" the corrs' song

  • Body language says he is not the dogs owner. Most likely found the dog and trying to get it help. Looks like he is about as hungry as the dog is. Glad he left the dog at the right place. It shouldnt be a crime. If you can leave a baby at a firestation or church no questions asked you should be able to leave a dog. Otherwise you will find that these people will kill the animal. sounds to me like a change in law is required for the safety of the animal.

  • its 2011 y dnt u use ur secret gadgets to find the man get csi involvd

  • @etonks - *Hi5!! Way correct!
