I got the pleasure of meeting him when he came to visit his home town of West Plains, MO about 20 plus years ago to do a benefit show.

On his tombstone Porter had "I left this old world with a satisfied mind" placed on it. Really a class man!

He has all his teeth, that is just a dark shadow with the lighting making it appear that he is missing a tooth. :)

Country Music has lost a tall Giant in the industry! What a legendary 50 plus year as a member of the Grand Ole Opry, the original Wagon Master with his trademark rhinestone studded suit and heart touching ballads are his trademark!! Who is going to fill those tall rhinestone studded cowboy boots ? ??!! No one..
