In the film 'Crossing the border', four white South African veterans who fought on the border of occupied Namibia and Angola in the 70s and 80s together with thousands of other young white conscript soldiers reflect on their terrifying adventures. They were part of the elite Crowbar unit, a death squad responsible for killing many people. During the South African Border War, they fought against what was known as the Rooi gevaar (red danger), the government term for the ANC and SWAPO liberation movements.

Calling the unit a " death squad" is inaccurate and inappropriate. Perhaps it is a lack of vocabulary in post-heroic societies that makes it difficult for people to describe military matters factually. Or perhaps it is vindictiveness, maybe just stupidity. Koevoet was a fine unit, fighting an insurgency. Allegations of war crimes were repeatedly investigated and found to be unsubstantiated or grossly exaggerated.

If you have a loved one that received a heart transplant,thank the south african surgeon who devised it and achieved it in the 70's.Despite all what you say ,this was all credit to the white south africans who had no intention but building a safe and strong economic country.

Before the Americans criticise,take a look at your own society,its infected with corruption from the roots out.Most of your military technology was bought from South African Military scientests back in the 70's and 80's namely the G5 cannon used on majority of tanks,the HUD inside aircrafts,the helmet hud controlling the cannone on your apache helis which was devised on our helicopters,30 years later it is still ranked in top5 most effective assault helicopters.
