He is the most relaxed performer I ever saw. I saw him at the St Paul Campus of the U of M years ago and he told the audience that if he gets too slick we should tell him. He did not get too slick.

we are playing this song in band

@dressagegal Really great comment - nailed it.. I love this guy's music!

i saw him do this song at a " Down from the Mtn." tour here in NY. They had an intermission and then without any intoduction he just came out to the microphone. I said " oh yea here we go!!! No-one knew who he was but once he started the place went silent and jaws dropped! Just him in a white t-shirt and bib overalls and a guitar, and eyes bugged out as he played " Under the Double eagle". People looked around looking for other guitar players not believing HE was the ONLY one playing!!

@clyde21641 I remember my dad playing this, too. I even asked for it a time or two. This, after growing up thinking it was basically an "old fart" tune. Now that I am one myself, it's gotten a lot better. :)

Damn, I've always loved this song. My cousin was into Norman years ago and told me his grandma starting teaching him guitar when he was like 12 or something, idk for sure. Cool story though. Norman = flat picking perfection.

it does not get any better then this !!!!!!! Norman is a guitar genius
Love this man. I have been listening to him for ...uh oh dating myself...30 years...ANYway, was just talking with a friend of mine tonite about how you can hear soul in songs.. some musicians are technically great but have no soul. Norman has both the technical and the soulful greatness. Thank you for posting...

I've spent many hours listening to Norman. Incredible musician and a very nice guy. He's number one for flatpickers in my book.
