When I speak with someone about being assigned in the Philippines, one question is always asked: "whatever happened to Clark, Subic Bay, and the other US military bases after Mt. Pinatubo erupted?"

My purpose in producing this video is to show the many facets of life as it moves on after the Mt. Pinatubo event.
This feature was produced in a way that will help viewers links Past and Present memorable on-base scenes.

If you've spent time in the Philippines, or planning a visit soon, I Hope this presentation will offer the many fine points to look forward to. Of the 7-thousand or so islands that make up Philippines, the main island of Luzon is a great place to start.

Enjoy this video treasure, as you view the richness of a Pacific paradise that is very much alive and well.
Many of us who have departed are quite envious of fellow expats who have remained near Clark, Subic Bay,
John Hay/ Baguio, and other jewels of the Pacific.

In the words of World War II's General Douglas MacArthur, who remarked on the subject of supporting the war effort in the Philippines: "Yes! I certainly will return..."

  • A tour of duty in the Philippines isnt a tour at all it looks like it was a vacation. All the girls you could want and good peso to dollar conversion. What more could you ask? The videos are nice, but I would say a narration is in order. You are not bringing credit to AFNEWS/ FEN.

  • Regretful, you appear not satisfied with what is offered.

Hopefully, you'll provide something better suitable in terms of video, musical selection and NARRARTION, to fit your requirements.

  • Despite the spelling of SALAKUT, I hope you received some enjoyment from the video piece.

I look forward to viewing your work soon.

I promise not to find fault.

  • your video sucks man. between the elevator music and the shaky camera youre lucky to get a score of 3/10.

and to the guy that said he lived at 942 C 95th place. yeah right buddy! the houses were A and B, there was no c. CMON!

  • SHERIFF297:

Thanks for your input regarding the "shaky" camera work, as well as the comments on someone recalling where they once lived while in the Philippines.

I'd love to see your fine video work displayed here. I'm sure you'll dazzle everyone with your fine production music. Now, Now! Only the best. I'm sure there's no "ELEVATOR MUSIC" in your library.

I can tell from your attitude, Clark's memorable 95th place is a far better place without you.

    PEACE!!!

  • @tiggeer88 Try facebook.. Do you have a picture? Do you know where he was from? Where did he work at Clark?

  • Thanks Virgil for taking the time to post this video. Piss on all the naysayers

  • Hello! Thanks for the memories! I went to Lily Hill Middle School for the 5th-8th grades in the late 70's. I was wondering if you knew what had became of it and of Wagner High School? Those were the best school years of my life with the most relaxed teachers and faculty ever! Appreciate any info you might have regarding this. Thanks!

  • @chryse i lived at 941A 95th place. there was no 941c. there was no 941d. it was only a or b. i say break out those "photographs" of yours.

and dont you agree with me? this video is crap.

  • @sheriff297 I know it makes no sense replying to a 3 year old comment here on You Tube, but I just now came back to this and all I can say is that you're talking out of your arse. I have the photographs to prove it. They may have renumbered the homes after we left Clark in 1983, but when I lived there, I was absolutely in 942-C.

  • Many thanks for sharing this video, I was stationed there with the 3TFW/3rd AGS Weapons Loading section back in 1980-83. Clark was the best assignment I had during my career and met some really great friends both military and civilian alike. I had the opportunity to visit Clark back in 2005 and although alot of the buildings were gone, the remaining buildings kept you famililar with your surroundings. Thanks again and as they said then and still do now..mabuhay! and salamat po!

  • I was stationed At Clark AB from 1981-87, 3 Combat Support Group at CBPO. My on-base residence was 1702 74th Place, right across from the Library and PLDT ( Philippine Long Distance Telephone). My family and I loved the base and ewnjoyed our tour there. It was sad we had to leave to for another permanent change of station (PCS). So much change at Clark now. Wish there were more captionson this video.

  • Thanks Virgil for the videos! I was stationed with the 6005th AIRPS sq from 1982 to 1987 and loved every day at Clark. It was a large important part of my life!

  • I was stationed at Clark AB from 1985-1989, Egress shop. I hope to go back some day. The place i always wanted to go to was Thailand (Bangkok) and now i'am close to retirement and never thought i would be able to go but now i'am closer to going than ever. I will swing through the PI if i have a chance early, but if not, someday. The retirement laws are better in Thailand.

  • I've been TDY to Clark many times over the past few years. I would have loved to see it in it's heyday
