This is me playing drums to Opeth's Bleak.

There are a few mistakes and syncing issues but you get the idea.

I've been playing for about 3 and a half years.

When playing a song i usually change up the fills and stuff to suit my own playing and tastes but this stayed more or less the same. There are some very minor changes though.

Kit setup is as follows:

Mapex M Birch in Transparent Cherry
22x18, 10x8, 14x11.
14x5.5" Black Panther Walnut Snare

20" Zildjian K Heavy Ride
19" Sabian AAXplosion Crash
18" Zildjian A Custom Fast Crash
18" Sabian AA Chinese
14" Sabian AA Flat Hats
6" Zildjian Zilbel

DW 5002 Accelerator Double Pedal
DW 9500 Hi-hat Stand

Recording gear is as follows:

Presonus Firestudio Project
Audix D6 on bass
Audix D2 on snare top
Shure SM57 on snare bottom
Audix D2 on toms
Audio Technica AT2020 as overheads.

  • ahh, you play open handed as well : )

just wondering how to came to play open handed - were you left handed but didnt want to be awkward? (thats my reason)

I have my kit set up with no cymbals on the right as i tend to ride on any of them though, so, for instance

What would you do if you needed to ride on your china?

  • I can play both ways but I feel more comfortable leading with my left, so if I had to ride my china, i would use my right hand.

  • hey man, I think you're pretty good. I always like watching open handed drummers, I think it's interesting to watch. keep jamming, you're on to some thing.

  • thanks a bunch bro.

  • To who ever made the last comment, I'm sorry i removed it, i meant to hit reply.

But i'm not sure what you are talking about...it's my drum track throughout the whole thing, with of course the drum track from the actual track underneath and very quiet.

  • wow that snare sounds nice!

what heads are on it and how is it tuned?

  • Evans Power Center over Hazy 300 with Gibraltar 42 strand snare wires.

Reso is medium tight, batter varies (in this case it was probably pretty high)
