Through much of the 80s, WTWO had a weatherman by the name of Kerry Dean. I wouldn't be surprised if Gary Jackson was a name made by WTHI to avoid confusion.

Interesting I'm a native of Eastern North Carolina and this Gary Jackson in Terre Haute, Indiana was known for decades as Gary Dean.

@mobilene Toward the end of the local reign WTHI had actually bought another TV station for itself, Fox outlet WFTX in Fort Myers, Florida. Emmis bought both in 1997 (when Emmis exited TV, they sold each station individually, once more separating WTHI and WFTX).
WFTX had a news department too, and it began to resemble WTHI (same graphic style, same VO, and Jennifer Crawford (once on WTHI) went there in the mid-1990s).

Poor Marla Keller. Turns out she died last year. Tragic. Not sure who looked more like one of Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds! puppets, Johnny Palmer or the young Kevin Orpurt.
