  • Global warming, debunked?

  • I cannot decipher what your comment means. Please explain

  • If I take your meaning, you're wrong. Merely -claiming- persecution because you have an opinion that contradicts the consensus view is not evidence that you're right.

  • Let him elaborate first. No sense addressing a malformed statement.

  • these here stones fallen from the skoi

  • "What about big heads that are stupid?".

  • Robert Boyle was born in Lismore Castle, in County Waterford, Ireland. Boyle was an Irish scientist with English heritage.

  • @Grak70 But the climate change proponents have their theories set in stone. Man is warming the planet, we must stop burning fossil fuels. Anyone, and I mean anyone who challenges that assertion is branded a heretic.

AGW was politicized early on, first by the interests who wanted to discredit it, and now by those interests who want to profit from it. From industrial concerns who want to profit from "green energy" to scientists who need government grants to maintain their status. Nothing changes

  • @rickey5353 Piltdown Man is a perfect example of why climate skeptics exist. This episode made me one. Piltdown Man was accepted science for half a century, with a "broad consensus" in all applicable fields. It was a second rate fraud, but it supported what everyone wanted to believe at the time. So if you want to believe man made climate change is real, you will find the evidence to back it up, even if it does no such thing once you remove the bias.

  • I sure hope those fashioning a Gorewellian future are watching this.

  • Educated guessing is the best we can do. That doesn't mean we're making a stab in the dark. I agree with you: ideas shouldn't be set in stone.

I also think the problem has been that the scientific community has been a very poor communicator on the AGW issue and that is why there is so much public cynicism about it. Couple that with hitting people in their pocketbook and you've got the makings of an inevitable backlash.

Now let's enjoy some James Burke, shall we? :-)

  • Look how nicely you made your reality fit. Your mother should be proud lmao.

Seriously though that's a pretty funny stance to take considering the topic Burke is covering. There is evidence that doesn't fit in the AGW Theory, I'm not a scientist so I don't know but the whole thing seems like a bunch of bandwagon jumpers with a lot of preconceived notions making educated guesses.

But that's just me, as reality itself isn't set in stone why should my ideas.

  • This is so awesome! I love learning with the Burke!
