Short demo (4 loops)

Modelled and animated by myself using 3D Studio Max.

The horse itself is actually more of an anthropomorphic character than is seen here. The aim was for the rig to work with both bipedal and quadrupedal poses and movement. I will be uploading some of the bipedal demos soon.

  • i think the problem's not the stride lenght. Thing is, the fetlock joint snaps back to pointing the hoof down after the hoof leaves the ground real fast but the whole leg itself moves fairly at the same speed in all it's way from take off to landing to swinging back again. this is what makes the walk a perfect 4 beat gait. instead this horse is doing what is called "ambling" usually due to pain or stiffness or if you have a naturally gaited horse that was bred to do it.

  • @KodaMayLee people are only trying to help! the biggest flaw in today's CGI is the lack of realism in animal's movements. There isn't one single movie i've seen so far were the CGi's animals didn't look like they had serious ligament and muscle injuries! LOL! so if everyone was as keen at listening to cues and tips as the author here is, perhaps we'd have sound cgi's by now ;)

  • hmm a bit too massive hooves, no? ;)

  • Well...someone put a little liquor in the water tin ^o^

  • Charlie the unicorn :D

  • @Mellthorn HAHAHAHAHA

  • Okay, good job on the animation, really, but don't be offended if I suggest watching some real horses walk around a little more. the stride is a bit long and is a bit jerky, but other than those few things great job.

  • LOL he looks drunk
