@greatsantini7 You are nuts, All those fish are beauties.

Beautiful fish man. What were you using to catch them? Salmon is one of the few fish I haven't targeted and I'm going to Quabbin Sunday. Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

man that first fish was ugly great video

@bugattiveyron1789 for a landlock Atlantic it's big, the state considers a 4 lb fish a trophy. If it were a wild migratory Atlantic salmon or a broodstock it would be small.

Is there anyway to catch these guys with a fly rod?How deep do you have to go?

@colinf94404 you can catch them with a fly rod, use streamers (smelt patterns). Summer you will need sinking line.

@TLHookUp What kind of structure are you looking for on your fish finder? drop offs? or bait bails of smelt?

@colinf94404....Yes, if you find the smelt bait balls chances are the salmon are around as well. I fish off of points and islands that have at least 20 feet or more of water. I target the salmon in the spring and fish mostly the first 20 feet of water, especially the first 5 feet from the surface. I only have been targeting them at the Q for the last couple of seasons and still have much to learn.

@colinf94404 Sweet, thanks for the reply. I dont own a boat anymore so I was thinking about getting a small personal pontooon and sticking a trolling motor on it. Using an 8 weight fly rod...

@colinf94404.....Look into all the Quabbin boat restrictions before purchasing. Just a trolling motor and no outboard for example would not be allowed.
