For everyone that has a problem with this commercial, it's just an example about how much it would hurt when you use a word in that way. Words hurt, and all this commercial is trying to do is let you know it does hurt, without being too damn serious about it. Who knew people can find the damn negative in a PSA that's actually trying to be positive. Gay people say it because, guess what, they're gay. It doesn't make it okay for you to use it in the same context. Ever heard of empowerment?

But it's ok to say "That's so dumb"? Historically, the word dumb was used to describe muteness, or those unwilling or unable to speak. Do you not think that at the time when the word "dumb" was evolving from meaning a mute person to referring to stupidity, that those mute people may have been offended by its new use as well?

Language evolves. Word definitions change. In the end, it is only a word and it only has as much power as it is given.
