I had the audacity once to say that I wanted to sit down and study these shooters and find out how they ticked you know keep them alive and not just execute them cause maybe it would give us a better understanding of the human mind in this state. Boy did I get some junk for it where people were like "well I just want them to kill the bastard"

That would cause a greater problem than it would fix. One, a lot of these shootings, and massacres are done by "law abiding citizens" in which they were, carrying and using guns and other weapons they owned legally. This is also why we need better background checks, to help keep guns out of the wrong hands. Plus, unless I was around specially trained shooters, I will never feel safe knowing there are "law abiding citizens" walking around packing heat, to keep people "safe".

You need to take classes to have a license. Americans are not super-trigger happy as painted out to be, and know when to hold fire. There are many examples of crimes stopped by law abiding Moral gun owners. Not everyone is a blood thirsty criminal, many more good then not. A gun doesnt suddenly turn you into someone who cant judge things, its just a tool like a knife. I certainly feel safe in a gun show, how many shooting happen there?

Unless someone is specially trained, liked someone in the military or a cop, I and no one should feel safer knowing people around you is packing heat. Under pressure, you cannot expect these people to use their guns properly, because even if they trained themselves to use them, they weren't trained to use them while being in such situation.

Its not only officers! What about the civilian militia! The country was born on civilian gun ownership. and police cant always be there.

Or a good guy with a gun could show up, duh. again its doesn't have to be police. Police come after the damage to draw chalk lines, civilians are there at the beginning.

To conclude my thought, when you read about situations of mass violence, or isolated violence. When you look at statistics regarding murder weapons of choice, and locales, and put it all together... it turns out, murder is going to happen no matter what. I would think liberal people (which I am liberal myself, for the most part), would appreciate not restricting a freedom that honestly does not effectively correlate to harming the society.

Or two armed criminals, slaughtering those sanctioned to be unarmed via the law. I am a gun owner, and no, I do not carry my weapon in places where it is outlawed. But yes, I'd wish I had it if I was a part of one such tragedy. I doubt the situation would be much better, if any, in a situation with armed people. But honestly, I think the simple threat would serve as a deterrent. I don't think these people like the idea of risking return fire.

I know you posted this video promptly after the incident, but you did miss one important fact, TJ. This particular movie theatre, was a "gun free zone", much like every area I can think of in which a mass shooting occurred. Many people talk about how if in these situations if there were a dozen or two law abiding citizens, it'd just be pandemonium, and everything would be worse. But the fact is this, the only scenario we keep being presented with time and time again, is one where there is one

Most people who own firearms, and even more so those who carry, do train themselves. And I personally would rather be protected by law-abiding citizens than no one. And if everyone was armed, the criminals would be outnumbered. Would you commit a crime if you knew that everyone around you was armed?

The shooter in this instance passed by eight other theatres before stopping and shooting up this one. Eight theatres between the one he went to and his home. Why is that? The one he went to was the only one of the nine to be in a gun free zone. He went there because it was the only place where he knew he wouldn't be shot back. If you get rid of gun free zones and let more law-abiding citizens carry, there will be no place for these people to hide or get free kills.
