Police seem to think they are preventing crime by harassing everyone to weed out the criminals however what it’s doing in actuality is preventing people from assisting police in investigations bc they are afraid to talk to police & don’t want to be a suspect in a crime bc they admit to being at or are at a scene. Police need to understand their role. It is to respond to crime, apprehend criminals, and collect or preserve evidence at the crime scene WHEN A CRIME HAD BEEN COMMITTED. = )

I agree with you.I do not like the terry frisk but its only supposed to be used for finding weapons on someone who is already being investigated not just on anyone on the street for no reason a seizure is still unconstitutional without probable cause.NY has perverted terry v Ohio with stop & frisk. Cops have already lost the public trust that’s clear. The bad thing is cops don’t know why. It’s really a simple answer the treatment of the innocent by police is mostly accusing, rude,&just plan poor

The time will come when we will regret using Terry vs Ohio to justify stop and frisk. Over time, as the number of people experience stop and frisk, the resentment against police will build. And that might be a good thing. It might lead to police chiefs ordering police to stop doing that.

You can’t that’s why it’s so important to know & uses your 4th /5th rights. I have had this debate with manofsteelwool & honestly I think he changed his tone a little bit afterwards reading his posts now.You should always assume you are dealing with a bad cop & hope that he’s a good one bc both act buddy buddy &lie 2 you 2 build a case against you.Even observation will be used against you in court look at terry v Ohio observation by the officer was the reasonable suspicion for the stop

One last thing. I pay my own salary as much as any other citizen, considering I'm a taxpayer. It's always driven me nuts when people say that. All right, NOW I'm outtie.

But ultimately, engaging in a youtube comment debate is intellectually on par with slamming your head against a brick wall repeatedly. Especially when every opinion posted on here really doesn't amount to a hill of beans. So feel free to get in the last word. I'm gonna get back to my job (which, despite the high volume of internet critics, is in my mind still the best job on earth), and stop getting roped into pointless debates. Toodles.

I fully agree that shitty things have been done to good people by law enforcement. I'd be the first one to say it, too. My goal here isn't to convince people otherwise. Rather, I'm merely combating the notion that people should assume the worst from law enforcement.

True, though I think it's closer to about 9% who pleaded guilty when they were actually innocent. It's a big part of the reason why tactics that are allowed to be used in interrogations have changed over the years. Really, the solution isn't to target law enforcement, but the courts. It's ultimately case law and the lawmakers that control what can and can't be used by law enforcement.

I'm sure they can be good at making you feel insecure about it. But they really know better. About a half dozen plain clothed and unformed police in Milwaukee have all taken the Fifth in an investigation. Cops' children are told, don't talk and don't go down to the interrogation room.
