  • I like Renee's reprise of Mimi too. I love Rosario, I haven't heard Daphnee yet, but Vanessa Hudgens as Mimi was just wrong! Like Neil Patrick Harris should have found someone better.. Look up Hollywood bowl Rent if you haven't seen it yet.

  • @newagesoapopera1 OMG, I have just checked it out.. and WTF!!!! What is that!? Vanessa is totally wrong, I thought NPH will be smarter than this! She too ought to have some mind and know for sure that this role isn't her size... What's so latino in Vanessa!! and her voice is just YAKH!

That's one big fall in her career.

  • So. The consensus among the people who liked Vanessa Hudgens was because she was "beautiful" and "sexy". All the comments about the other actresses say they were phenomenal in their interpretations as Mimi.

    I love spotting patterns.

PS: Will Chase brings some great stuff to the songs, both vocally and acting-wise. Adam Pascal is a phenomenal vocalist, but there's just a bit too much... standing around when he's on stage.

  • Mimi's part almost sounds like it belongs in a different genre of musical :)

    (in a good way)

  • @enchantressofnumbers I don't know what you're talking about. I see plenty of vulnerability in this video alone. 1:28

  • These two don't have the vulnerability of Daphne and Adam, and the vulnerability of the characters is what makes Rent. The story is just flat without it.

  • @DaynajustDayna

you should see daphnee she looked really really old

  • i love this- the raw energy and talent, totally embodies everything rent is about!

  • @Chibbykins That's fair enough. I like Adam's portrayal, I just like Will's more. Plus, if everyone thought the same then the world would be a very boring place indeed :)

  • @LaynieFae

In all fairness, Adam was very green when he first played Roger. He was a wannabe rock star, not an actor, whereas Will was a professional by the final performance. I think Adam improved greatly for the movie (say what you will about the movie itself). He too was vulnerable, broken but also vaguely cynical. He is the best to me :)

  • @Pattilos Agree with absolutely everything you have here. Will's interpretation has 'conflicted' and 'vulnerable' written all over him while still being edgy, neurotic and more than a little pissed off at what's happened in his life. All of which makes his a good version of the role. Adam's still awesome and everything but I think Will just hits everything. And Renee is the best. She's just so good. Vanessa was shocking.

  • It's something about the way she sings 1:18 - 1:32 that convinces me that her heart was frozen in that instance of her being burnt by Roger's dismissal. Renee is an excellent vocalist and actress...my goodness.
