  • @lorketia Actually, in the earliest days on CBS, Dick would actually take the time to ask the contestant if they wanted to give or receive before they headed over to the Winner's Circle. Once it went to ABC and from that point on in the 80's as it went back on CBS, he didn't ask, but it stayed an option. On Bill Cullen's nighttime $25,000 Pyramid in the 70's, Bill would always ask the contestant before they headed over.

  • She did it very calmly even though a lot of money was riding, she was real cool about it.

  • Except possibly in the very earliest days of the game, the contestant had the option to give the clues. It wasn't often advertised, except sometimes on the $20K version, but it was allowed. Every so often a contestant would elect to do so as seen here.

  • Terrific win, but what's the story with the ordinary person giving and the celebrity receiving?

  • I believe she became the first person to win over $40,000 on a CBS Network game show.

Yes, I have noticed that before on several instances. The $25,000 sign would do exactly as you mentioned. A lot of other folks who have seen this version back in the day would have noticed that as well.

  • Notice that Rita's eyes were brimmed with tears of joy at 1:43...

  • @tpir1972

I assume that "For" was not a key word of that category. However, if her clue was "Take cold medicine", that would be different; she would be buzzed, because "Cold" was a key word in the category. But since she said "for" in her clue, it didn't cause the category to be disqualified. Hope this info helps.

  • She won $46,550 is she the biggest winner under the CBS then $25,000 limit?

  • Notice: when the $25,000 was hit the sign at the top flashed when $10,000 is won it's stationery.
