I was going to fix it for somebody but the guy bought a new snow blower now so he gave me this one for FREE, the problem is the carb keeps leaking gas and the choke doesn't work but it still runs.......sort of usually it stalls.
@MattytheDem To late, I'm stuck with it now. Mine is a powermore brand on an MTD.
208cc. Runs fine cuz it's still new. so far so good. Should run the fuel right out to store over the summer months. Honda is Jap. the others now are made in china.
@MattytheDem Its not Toro doing that its actually Suzuki. They got out of the small engine business a long time ago so now parts are hard to find which drives up prices. I actually like the 2 cycle Suzuki engines. They are the only 2 cycle I would take over Tecumseh 2 cycles. 90% of the time they just need a good carb cleaning and they come back to life. Tecumseh made a great 2 cycle as well but the electric starters on the smaller 3 horse engines always break.
@workensmart mine has a 4.5 horse Suzuki 2 stroke. ballsy motor but hard and expensive to find parts for because fucking toro is upping the price on parts to get these 2 strokes off the market so people will go to home depot and buy these new ones that have these 4 cycle dogshit motors on em
@MattytheDem Yes I know they are shit. I work on them every damn day doing nothing but carburetor recalls. I feel like I'm on an assembly line doing the same thing over and over lol. The sad thing is that it looks like allot of other companies are starting to follow Toro by using shit engines on other wise good products.
That's a good machine you have there. If that's a Tecumseh 2 cycle in there then its very easy to get a carburetor rebuild kit. You should also buy a new bowl and plastic float because the bowl's always corrode around the top were the gasket goes. Also the solder joints on the older copper floats tend to corrode this allows fuel to get inside the float which will make it sink to the bottom of the bowl. The result is a fuel leak or a flooded engine.
@workensmart the 4 cycles on these new ones are Chinese made Garbage that will last you a year if youre lucky. i have a 1987 that still runs the balls and im gonna keep using as long as it will run
So the guy buys a new snow thrower because his old one is leaking gas? Easy fix. Does he not know that the new snow throwers use chinese engines that have a HUGE recall because the carburetors corrode and guess what they leak gas all over the place lol. You can get it fixed under warranty with a new carburetor but guess what. In a year or so the new carb will leak gas. Why you ask?. Because the new carbs still have the same problems. The needle and seat cant stand up to ethanol fuel.
@semtech30 mtd used to run tecumseh back in the day. not too bad
