  • This show is very Americo-centric. Im not offended by this, but i do wish they broadened their horizons a little and considered, in particular, the Russian machines available.

Helicopter combat is not as black and white as the F22 vs older aircraft. The apache is amply matched by a number of designs, in particular the KA50 and KA52. It would be nice to have these compared

  • I love Popcoяиs too, with some coca-cola at the movies

  • @irR4tiOn4L Im american.......and i agree with you

  • @irR4tiOn4L I agree that KA50/52 is a great piece of machinery. But, a war machine is not just about payload or speed. Now, It is also about the interoperability with other systems. And this where Apache stands out.

  • so who controls the 30 mm cannon

  • @Musicman55ism that is one of the best things i have heard about vietnam in a while you are right but there were a lot of other factors in it

  • @msalak87 I agree but i dont overlook performance. Its a very tough and personal choice about what set of criteria is best; but maybe youd change your mind even on single seaters if, for example, a Ka-52 were helping with targets. Have a look at Wiki; the Ka-50 has handled combat even in difficult Chechnyan terrain and in Kyrgyzstan its performance proved an advantage in higher altitude and air temperatures operation. It may put a large workload on one pilot, but it may still be more effective.

  • @irR4tiOn4L I have to say it's very difficult to compare helicopters because performance wise they are all fairly simliar. The biggest thing for me is survivability/reliability. I love all kinds of helicopters from the mi-24 to ah-6 and would have a hell of a time picking one to purchase if I had my own military. All I know is I would not pick any single seat design.

  • @msalak87 I also thought id mention the KA-50-2 and one other thing; a 1997 contract for Turkish helicopters saw this result; "The Ka-50-2 Erdogan, Eurocopter Tiger, AH-64 Apache, AH-2 Rooivalk and A129 Mangusta helicopters lost to an improved version of AH-1 SuperCobra. In the end the contract went to the A129 in 2007"

The AH1 isnt even mentioned in this video, yet beat out all the others (maybe because its cheaper, but thats important too)

  • @msalak87 I forgot to add that id also mentioned the KA 52, which is a two seater.
