@Mendelevium146 Yep! You must keep in mind that the Iowa-class battleships are the most powerful ships ever built. No other ships have so many ways to hurl death over the horizon. So the navy has ordered that at least two of these battleships (Namely the Iowa and Wisconsin, but the New Jersey and Missouri are still operational as well) be kept in good condition in case they are ever needed again, and believe it or not, they are still debating whether Battleships have a place in the modern navy

Screw the stupid social programs...midnite basketball,food stamps, and other socail programs for the parasites. Rehab the IOWA and bring her back to duty. We need one battleship. And I feel we'll need it soon.

She was my home for three (3) years and seven (7) months...slept in the same bunk in 6th Division main deck, port side. Left the ship for separation as a Boatswains Mate Third Class in August 1955. I have been a member of the USS Iowa Veterans Association since 1987. Next year we will have our reunion in or near San Pedro, California. Our great ship will be along side the pier in the Port of Los Angeles where she is to become the last of the Iowa class battleships to become a museum.

@19mrcool32 So the Iowa is going to San Pedro? I'm glad they will save it but sorry it has to go so far away. I won't be able to see it once it leaves Suisun Bay. I have some great photos taken from the Benecia-Martinez bridge when they frist brought it here.
