The song was written by both Kahn (words) and Donaldson (music). Thanks for the info that the tune was written on the death of Donaldson's wife.Beautiful bacground harmonies by Ade & Stribling.
Who remembers that this is a lovely, sad Walter Donaldson song composed (so I recall) because of the death of his young wife? Thirties players took it up -- Hampton's version with Hawk, Ed Hall, Joe Sullivan (!) most memorable. Catch Bob's heroic leap into his solo: the act of an utterly fearless musician. And N. Stribling's heart-on-sleeve early Hawkins is worth studying and admiring.

I thought this was a Gus Kahn composition. It is a great song and this is a nice interpretation of the tune.
Thank you for sharing.
