Sonia Chang-Diaz made Massachusetts history when she became the first Latina from the 2nd Suffolk District to win the Massachusetts senate seat of the Commonwealth.
Former State Senator Diane Wilkerson, African-American, lost to Sonia Chang-Diaz on November 4th 2008, after METCO director Jean McGuire and embattled Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner, interjected race by calling Sonia Chang-Diaz, "A Carpet Bagger; She's Not Latina; She's not Costa Rican; She doesn't know the Black Community."
Meanwhile, Diane Wilkerson accepted bribes from undercover FBI agents caught on video tape for stealing $25,000.00 in cold hard cash; and Chuck Turner stealing $1000.00 in cold hard cash. Diane Wilkerson lost the primary, giving the win to Sonia Chang-Diaz.
