NOTE: I have not been asked to conduct this review, nor have I been asked to endorse or promote this product. I am doing this of my own free will and volition. I am doing this review simply to educate and inform you of products that we may or may not choose to keep in our food storage.

Greetings! In an effort to get you the information you need with regard to food storage items, I am reviewing Augason Farms Creamy Potato Soup Mix in the Everyday Size can. Last week, you will recall, I reviewed the Chicken Noodle Soup from the same company with good results. Since I want you to have an honest evaluation of these products before deciding to spend money on them, here is how I felt about the Creamy Potato Soup mix.

The instructions on the can are simple, bring 8 1/2 cups of water to a boil and whisk in the mix. Simmer for 20 to 25 minutes and serve.

This soup was absolutely wonderful! Thick and creamy with a lovely mild potato flavor, it was mildly seasoned with just the right amount of onion and parsley. I tried it plain and it was hands down, one of the best potato soup mixes I have ever had. No Kidding! We added some shredded cheddar cheese and TVP bacon bits as well as some diced green onion to the top of our soup and that made it even more delicious.

My friend Katzcradul recently did a video where she showed how to make flour tortillas and she served homemade quesadillas with her soup. I did the same. Her tortilla recipe is hands down, the best one I have ever tried. It is going in my recipe vault for future use. My family loved them. If you would like to give her recipe a try here is a link:

I have had a few viewers ask me how these Augason Farms soups compare with the Bear Creek Soups that are available in most grocery stores. I have never tried those soups and in order to make a fair comparison I will trying the Bear Creek Soups as well in upcoming videos.

It is my hope that by doing these reviews I am able to help you in making some decisions for yourself and your family with regard to some options for food storage, menu and meal planning and economic survival. We don't need to have a zombie apocalypse to use our food storage, we can use it every day knowing that we are using it to the best benefit of our family and our budget.

I am also going to work on developing a recipe for both the chicken noodle and the creamy potato from ingredients that are in my storage. I want to share many options for you to consider. Just because you don't have the mix, doesn't mean that you can't have a comparable or even better result using simple ingredients that you may have on hand.

So, I hope that this review helps and I really do hope that you will try this mix out. It was fabulous.

Here is my rating:

Taste: Five Stars

Ease of preparation Five Stars

Servings per Container Four Stars

Cost Four Stars

Packaging 4 Stars. Perfect size for 6 to 8 servings

This soup was very thick, and we really enjoyed it that way. If you prefer a thinner soup, you should add at least 2 extra cups of water at the beginning of the process. That will ensure you a thinner soup. If you do add the extra water you can stretch this soup to serve between 10 and 12 people. If you serve a bread or sandwich on the side.

As always, Happy Eating!

  • Sorry I can't reply the right way. Lol I'm on my phone atm! Yes! We love that show! Haha One of the best shows on tv atm. I also love vampire diaries.

  • @lunarain19 Rick and I just finished catching up! We watched the entire first season on Saturday and Sunday and have been watching the first part of season 2 on our cable's on demand the last couple of nights. I am totally addicted. If anyone had ever told me that I would cry while watching a "zombie" show i would not have believed them. But it really isn't about the walkers is it? I know its based on a comic, but what a hell of an SHTF scenario right?! Noreen : )

  • What store did u by the augason farms brands of soups,I've never since that brand. I can't wait till next week for the bear creek soup,I've always wanted to try them.

  • @junklovers I order directly from their website, I don't think that they sell AF in regular stores. I do know that in certain parts of the country they do have it available at some Sam's clubs and Costco, but not where I live. they have a nice variety of food storage items at good prices and their shipping is reasonable.

  • We use this soup a couple of times a month. We add corn, then finish with some cheese , sour cream and tomato as garnish. Our whole family loves this soup. We get the #10 cans, which is real nice for long term since its 33 servings. We use it one can a month.

  • thks Noreen! I had wanted to add this to my pantry and now will... its much less expensive buying it thru sams club online emergency foods than from augasons Farms but i think they only carry the large cans .

  • Bear Creek Broccoli/Cheese is delicious, and so easy to make! I add chopped, steamed (in micro) broccoli to it. I've been eyeing AF products at Sam's Club. I may need to invest in some items. Great review - thanks!

  • @1930sgirl I understand that it is good for baking, but using it as a butter spread is absolutely disgusting!

  • @lunarain19 If you are a Walking Dead fan, a zombie apocalypse is no laughing matter. : )

  • Zombie apocalypse!! Bahahahahaa! My husband always jokes about that! That soup looks really yummy.
