I really would like to give the players NAMES. If you haven't guessed it, not many videos feature the young guys... but if you want to remain hidden from view, by all means, ignore the opportunity.

The Institute Challenge is a battle between the State Institutes of Sport. Because of the swine flu scare, The NSW and SA institutes dropped out and were replaced by the VSSSA (Vic U19 Schoolboys State Team) and the AFS (Australian Football Skool), The irony was that the AFS were told they would be outclassed yet won all 3 matches and won the tournament.

@Hodgey1989 I have been trying to explain for years that the "Australian System" is completely different.

There is simply NO club system that develops young players.

That is left to the Football Federations. But having chosen 16 players on a limited budget, the 17th player that just missed out is left with no options.

Private Academies take up the slack, but that depends on the size of your wallet.

@Hodgey1989 As Victoria seems to do every 2 or 3 years, the system has changed. The VIS has been disbanded. Replaced by NTC (National Training Centre) and VTC (Victorian Training Centre). Other states have maintained their "Institutes" (QAS, NSWIS). There is also the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport).

I am not an authority on ths, but yes, if you were living in Australia and you met the basic criteria of elite-player status and appropriate age, a scholarship would be possible.

I was wondering if your from a different country but live in Victoria could you get a scholarship to Victoria Institute of Sport or is it just for Australian born people.
