Last year, (2008), I was a regular performer in this series called the Lovable Losers Literary Revue, held in Chicago at El Jardin, a Mexican restaurant, a mere 3 blocks from Wrigley Field, put together by of seemingly diehard Chicago Cubs fans who were mourning the 100 anniversary of the Cubs last World Series championship in 1908. Here in this clip, I am formally introduced for the first time by Don Evans, founder of the Losers, (of which I was christened one myself later in the season) and then went onto perform my own poem for my favorite Cubs player, 1st baseman, Ernie Banks, from the viewpoint based on my childhood memories of my Dad taking me to Cubs games.. Ernie Banks I fondly remember his yearly rhymes for the Cubs chances for a given baseball season and of course, they've never come true . The series itself featured poets, musicians, authors, filmmakers and fans.
What a nice poem:)...or story sholuld I call it?
He he let's see how your version of your dad's story(s) sounds in 30 years? ;) ha ha ha
