Arguably the best episode of Early Edition, shows a side of Gary we have never seen. When a routine apartment fire becomes anything but when Gary is unable to save a homeless man on the roof, Gary's mindset changes. He begins to question his actions, motives, and why he gets the paper. However, all will change when Gary sees his obituary in the paper.

  • I really don't get it. Why all the haste? They could have stayed there for hours until the fire would get to them. In that time the fire department could have saved them or secured the crossover to the next building. This was really stupid of Gary.

  • @mszs

Because at 1:38, It says in the paper that the fire will kill one person. If Gary had not done anything and let the fire department handle it, the homeless man would have died in the fire. So Gary had to try and save him or else.

  • I think Gary just wants to make sure that the paper doesnt come true!

  • @darkjackiechan You are right, it says so. However I think this is not plausible. This building is several stories high. Shouldn't the story have changed at 4:02?

Anyway, I like the story. It leads Gary into a crisis where he has to confront his sense of inadequacy.
