  • That was an amazing launch.Just one thing,was it normal for the capsule part to spin during the separation at 2:18 ?

  • No. It wasn't planned. Most likely it's because the upper stage doesn't has an engine in this test flight, so after separation it falls directly back.

  • Dont get the idea behind this test launch. To prove what?

  • The Ares I-X flight test will provide NASA an early chance to test and prove the new rocket's flight characteristics, hardware, facilities and ground operations. Additionally, the mission will help verify computer and wind tunnel models. More than 700 sensors have been placed throughout the vehicle to collect data for use in future exploration missions.
