u know i was talkin to my dad about this movie onetime and i told him if a constitution class ship had ever made it out of a planets atmosphear or thru a planets atmosphear in one peace and he thinks thats possible XD and i was a bit confused i was like thats just plain impossible k how can a a ship of this size ever do that lol XD.
XD lol which trek eppisode are u reffering that to? lol XD anyways u know when i told my dad about this movie i actualy was thinkin the same thing that there would be no way that full grown constitution class starship would survive making it out of the planets atmosphear lol and he told me it was possible XD.
"It looks even less faithful to TOS than the new Battlestar Galactica is to the classic."
You apparently haven't kept up with what the point of the new movie is.
"Gene Roddenberry is spinning in his spacebourne crematory urn right now. "
I don't think it's for you to say how Gene or anyone would have felt. But it's funny, you are more concerned about the visual stuff than the story itself. It could have a good story and you wouldn't care? Isn't that what TOS is about? Hmmm..
Pics are up from the flick now. And apparently Abrams DIDNT know that or just didnt give a fuck what longtime fans would think and didnt even TRY to get it right on the money. It looks even less faithful to TOS than the new Battlestar Galactica is to the classic.

I think there are multiple ships called Enterprise, over time one is retired and a new one commissioned. Unless they say it's the first one called Enterprise, it shouldn't be too difficult to reconcile. (TNG references a ship called Ent. that sailed the oceans.)
I also liked STE, the characters were good, acting, cinematography, animation, script, storylines (for the most part). I enjoyed it, and after burning out on TNG, was glad to see it (could never get into Voyager or Deep Space 9).
I wonder how they'll reconcile "Star Trek Enterprise" and this new film. That is, I thought the starship in "Star Trek Enterprise" was the first starship to be called Enterprise. How do we now have this previous starship with the same moniker.
it can travel faster than light but it can't lift itself off a planet?

You have to look at the timeline and where things fall in. STE's Enterprise (NX-01)takes place before this movie, and this Enterprise (NCC-1701).
