I had this done in December 2010 and haven't had any trouble since. I had a hamstring graph. The hami they took the graph from doesn't feel as strong, but I have never had any trouble with it.
Just make sure you massage the scar once it's closed up to avoid the fascia becoming restricted. Whenever i contract my hamstrings strongly it pulls through the bone and even through my calves now. Working the tissues to loosen the fascia will help release it
i had this surgery 4 years ago and it was totally worth it. It feels as stable as it was before i hurt it and the pain i get from day to day activity is minimal. The key is the rehab, do everything your told and work as hard as you can and you'll get back to normal quickly. I was able to play basketball 5 months later at the age of 32. The keys are strength and breaking up the scar tissue. That's the hardest part, you may want to take a pain killer to stretch to breakup the scar tissue
@DONTeatLLAMAS same here bro, im going for the second surgery in februarry. another year without competing, thats just suck. but anyway! good luck and fast recovery!
@bft125 I just had my op a couple of nights ago, I'm 17 and also had to stay the night. Got put on a lot of painkillers when I woke up and I gotta say I was in a lot of pain. Ice and pressure for a couple of days has made it a lot less painful but walking is near impossible. Should be back on the rugby pitch September 2012, but getting stuff done is pretty hard at the moment.
I had this done a couple of days a go. I am 16 so I had to stay the night so they could keep an eye on me but i didn't feel the need of it. At the moment I am on crutches and have all ready started on therapy and not in to much pain. Can't wait to get back on my bike again!
