What can government learn from Google and the Web 2.0 explosion? Wikipedia, Amazon, Linux - the code behind every Google server - all derive their value from its users and their participation. How can government learn to harness this collective brain-power to solve our biggest challenges? Is 'direct democracy' no longer a dusty thousand year-old Greek ideal? TechGuru Tim O'Reilly discusses Gov 2.0.

  • on privacy - its funny that this man compares privacy to the Maginot line, since that implies Google are fascists preparing an assault. It would have been trivial to design devices, like phones and cars, to not be tracking devices, but that doesn't fit the corporate agenda. And I don't believe people are willingly making the trade off of giving up info., but that they can't avoid it and have no choice in the matter. Myself, I doubt that the benefits of eliminating my privacy will accrue to me.
