Neelie Kroes, European Commisison, talks about proposals for a new "do-not-track" standard to put control in the hands of users and safeguard privacy when you're browsing online. Originally recorded for a meeting of the W3C's working group on tracking protection, January 2012.
It is a sad reality that we even need to make this assertion. Just read the google privacy policy. Even if you disable cookies and spoof your MAC address, they will still use additional measures such as null images, or what they call a "Pixel tag." Also, they say that users can opt out... Take careful note of the statement "When you use our services or view content provided by Google." How do you opt out of having your information collected when you view a google ad placed on another website?
