http://www.waterproofingvideos.com Larry Janesky of Basement Systems, Inc. addresses the common concerns of homeowners about choosing the right basement waterproofing contractor and products available. This video of 10, addresses basement windows and window wells. Replacing basement windows not only makes the space brighter, but saves energy as well. Old, broken, drafty basement windows should be replaced with energy efficient, rust-free windows.

  • I can see the advantages of vinyl over wood or steel for a basement; rust and rot don't look pretty. But why horizontal sliders? They're ugly (with one side set out from the other), awkward to open and close, leak more than casements and attract burglers (if the opening is big enough). Vinyl siding contractors seem to love these things; I think they stick out lie a sore thumb (unless they match the other windows). Wouldn't a one piece casement that pivots inward be a better choice?
