That is not the motor controller. It is a DRO -- digital readouts. It's connected to a linear encoder. It is an absolute because it is connected to the carriage. Maximum resolution is 1 µ

how do you control the speed at which it goes and how far it travels?

@salzahrah is either a stepper motor, you tell how many steps to step, control speed of steps, or is servo, with servo, there's a device to measure where it is, so can control it that way.

@felderup It is a stepping motor. as you imply, you can program it to move at a given rate of steps per second with our programmable controller.
