Started in April of 2007, this trio of mixed media on masonite, each 18" x 24" are part of an ongoing video series I call "Work in Progress".

The series is designed to illustrate one method I employ in my abstract work.

This is all about a process, one that is without a doubt organic and spontaneous yet ironic in the considerable time it takes to reach its resolution.

I have been hard at work and since you've last visited them the trio have received several thick coats of a polymer resin (material completely new to me) with a coat or two of enamel, watercolor and gouache work between each.

The polymer actually magnifies aspects of the earlier work, has brought a glasslike luster and sheen to each piece and has neatly sealed it all in a transparent cocoon.

Stay tuned for a brand new installment of "Work in Progress" very soon. The triptych continues to evolve and ~4 is in the works.

note: ~4 is on hold, I've just been too busy the past 6 to 8 months to give this triptych the attention it deserves. Keep an eye out though, I will eventually get to it.

  • nice

  • Thanks Jon! :-)

  • incredible work ! How do you manage to get those tiny tiny detailed lines in the picture - there is so much going on in it - it's beautiful !

  • Lucie, Here the paint itself has done most of the work. This is what happens when you pair unlikely materials. Check out the other videos in the series and see their progress from the very start. Love your work!!

  • Hi..first of all>>>> thanks for uploading ..im curious into how your art is developed...how would you best describe this work your doing?...thanks.

  • Honestly? -I feel what we typically call realism involves far more reduction or generalization of observable phenomena (abstraction) than we might normally think. To my mind these works are reflective of the the natural world on both a micro and macro scale. Too, they are about change, transition and a mixing and muddling reflective of the globe's cultural metamorphosis.
