The New York Jets are back in the win column after defeating the Arizona Cardinals, 7-6, in Week 13 of the 2012 NFL season. Mark Sanchez's three interceptions got him benched by Rex Ryan, and rather than going to Tim Tebow (who was inactive), Ryan inserted former Alabama QB Greg McElroy. It wasn't pretty, but McElroy protected the ball and led the Jets on a TD drive that proved to be the difference. Scott Salmon of Gang Green Nation recaps the ugly but welcomed win.

you sound fairly confident, Mcelroy is getting the start... I'm leaning more towards Sanchez starting again

I'm less confident now than I was, but I do think that the longer this goes on, the more likely it is McElroy gets the start. In the past, Rex was always confident that Sanchez was his man. If that was still the case, he would have said that again Monday morning. His hesitance makes me think he's finally looking at it objectively and just getting final word from Mr. T, who gave Sanchez such big money.

3:03 - 3:15 You said so much truth as to what went wrong with Sanchez's career. He started off with a lot of moxie and was a gunslinger but has been tamed into a red light/ green light gunslinger, which isn't his forte. That's I think if he goes to another team that realizes that and takes the reign off, he may have some success contrary to popular belief and experience a rebirth of his career.

Best decision ever when sanchez got benched. Let's see what's G.M.'s got after these couple of games. If it's not him, someone else. Jet nation is done with buttfumle. Good riddance.

Can't imagine Sanchez not given another chance, mac attack was fun but hardly a situation fix. No weapons, Keller out probably rest of the season, there is no QB on that team that can make that offense work. Ship off Sparano, draft a running back, and honestly I say say ship Holmes, the locker room is fractured and he can only make it worse. He doesn't care about the team so he can only hurt us. It's about heart, drive, and being a TEAM.

i think you raise good point. hard to see Rex giving up on Sanchez, but when he comes out and says he likes all three QBs on Monday, wouldn't be surprised to see him go with McElroy given mindset of fans at stadium on Sunday and over past few weeks. We'll see.
