http://www.eurocarnews.com - The optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), with both manual gearshift and an automatic mode, enables smooth gear changes with no interruption in the flow of power. This results in significantly faster acceleration and lower fuel consumption, without having to sacrifice the ease of automatic transmission.

  • One of the prettiest technical animations I have ever seen, almost like art. I love the folks who say "what garbage" the car is, but have never driven one or even seen one in person. They are more works of art then cars, and this is what makes Porsche so special...they are magnificant exercises in applied design. The Porsche cars carry with them the thinking of some of the best technicians in the world, the heritage of one of the most successful racing teams in history, the art of the car

  • @sorrowdragon there are like a dozen people with the highest degree in engineering and decades of experience developing tommorows technologies, for better acceleration, fuel economy and reliability. and you come here and call their work garbage? who the f*ck are you? I bet you cant even fix your hairdryer if it breaks and still you dare calling this garbage? this gearbox will be in your chevrolet matiz in 20 years from now, not sooner. stop trolling

  • that is absolutely incredible and beautiful innovative technology! Porsche engineers are freaking amazing!

does anyone know if there is a youtube vid on here someone driving and demoing pdk from a performance standpoint? like a picture in picture type deal?

  • even though manual transmission are dying and paddle shifters or whatever you call them without clutch pedal are slowly replacing it, i still prefer my manual gear box with a clutch, that way i can rest my foot while popping into neutral on stop lights and gotta love the feeling when shifting with an exhaust

  • Probably the best Semi-auto transmission video ever!

To all those who say: "garbage, trash, fuck it, etc.."

I bet all of you are top grade experts in technology development and engineering and have over 40 years of expirience. If you are all of that, then why not make a better gearbox and then call this one "rubbish"

  • This is the reason why I love transmissions

  • @crazyman1500 No Clutch pedal

  • @crazyman1500 No, there is no clutch pedal. To change gear, you use the wheel-mounted switches (push in to upshift, pull back to downshift). You can also put it into automatic mode, and the computer will choose the gear for you. The 911 Turbo is available with the more conventional paddle shifters.

  • @sorrowdragon I can tell a carrera from a boxter, I can tell an older 911 from a newer 911. porsche is for whoever appreciates, they have their conservative style that doesnt need to change. porsche evolves in technology, not design. wanna buy a car for looks? get a fiesta and paint it yellow, add some racing stickers and here you go, people will be able to tell it apart from a focus. how f*cking lame. real men buy cars for the way they drive, not for the way the look

  • I have a quick question about the pdk system.. i know that you change the gears via the steering wheel apparatus, but is there still a clutch pedal?
