The Zimmer Children's Museum hosts an amazing art show. Annually the fundraiser draws Artists and Personalities from across the globe. The Los Angeles artists represented are some of the best and upcoming. Based on this year's idea of "Vision" artists were asked to create a sculpture using an vision related object provided by the Museum. This is my forth year. Each year this project allows me to stretch my creative and technical skills. Mechanical automata takes a lot of time. I have assembled and dissasembled this piece about 50 times.

Press the black doorbell. This lights up the viewfinder. Grasp the red handle and crank. Look into the eye piece of the vintage 8mm viewer. There is a little girl in a hula skirt dancing. The movie clip was found at a flea makket years ago. The crank is powering an antique Japanese Tin toy train. The eyes dart in and out. The shaft turns the whimsical screw drive machine. And at the end of the line is the caboose altered to contain the music box playing a tune. All of this sits atop a Hugger Caps display box. It probably had dowels coming out of it. This was found in the early '90s in Valparaiso Indiana. It was in the basement of Warek"s (sp) hardware.
