GoldWing Versus Car Head-On Crash

Couple drives from Michigan to honor Blount County Sheriffs deputy: The Alto, Mich. couple were on a camping trip in Townsend in July. Theyd been in town less than 24 hours when they were involved in a motorcycle accident that left John Bloem incapacitated, he said. The couple had taken a motorcycle ride on the Dragon and were on Foothills Parkway when they swerved to miss a man who was standing in the middle of the road. They were forced into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle head on. John Bloem was taken to UT Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for about five days, he said.

THP Trooper Dalton and Park Ranger Keith Gad worked this wreck, with BCSO writing the crash report. Sgt Huckabee with THP reported no fatality at the crash scene. Butlers Wrecker Service cleaned up the mess.
