The International Swordfighting and Martial Arts Convention has brought together the finest instructors from around the world to teach the best classes in Western Martial Arts for over a decade. In that time many participants have had their first exposure to WMA and many more continue to return and honed their skills. For more details go to theismac.org. The 2010 workshop was Sept 2nd-6th.

There were over 50 classes on almost any Western Martial Arts subject. Classes are always offered on the fundamental weapon systems and masters but we also present unique classes such as Carpathian mountain axe, Edwardian Bicycle Self Defense and Germanic Dueling Shields. Please check out our past schedules on the website for a better idea of the extensive variety we offer.

A commerative DVD of the 2009 workshop is available from martinez-destreza.com

ISMAC was held at the Detroit Metro Airport Westin Hotel. Located at the McNamara terminal, the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the baggage claim for Northwest, Continental, Lufthansa or British Airways/KLM. Other airlines flying into Smith terminal can take a convenient shuttle to the McNamara terminal. It couldnt be easier to get to the ISMAC! Keep posted to the website for updates to classes and schedule in the coming months.

  • omg I want to do this! Iv taken several of Bob Charron's courses and he was a fantastic instructor!

  • Ken Pfrenger is the man. Wish he let out some DVDs or books about Irish Collar and Elbow. Can't ever find THAT stuff from him.

  • @xtimtimx1198 The workshop this year is Sept 3rd-6th so you can learn more from Tony at the event if you are interested. Just do a search for "International Swordfighting and Martial Arts Convention" for more details.

  • @jaredkirby Thanks for the response. That looks like an interesting weapon; I'll have to look into it a little bit.

  • @xtimtimx1198 That is Tony Wolf demonstrating techniques with the slungshot which is "a striking weapon consisting of a small mass of metal or stone fixed on a flexible handle or strap" (Merriam-Webster)

  • Hello,

I'm curious, what is the weapon shown around 2:07
