On February 9, 2010, I twisted yarn into my hair. This is the third time I have used yarn, and I love it!

See my other yarn twists videos: Go to http://www.youtube.com/nappynfree and select the yarn twists playlist.

See my questions and answers about wearing yarn:

MORE INFORMATION:

* I used two strands of yarn in the front and three strands in the back.

* Vaseline Update: I took some twists out after two weeks, and I didn't notice a real difference in my hair. It still felt like it always does after I take down the twists - soft. (For more information, see "I Propose a Vaseline-Sealing Challenge:"
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=315551.)

* I will keep the yarn in my hair for 4-5 weeks.

* I oil my scalp 1-2 times a week.

* Brown lace earrings worn in one of the style pictures were purchased from

    Yay! I am glad this video helped!

  • This is very pretty and it looks more natural than twisting with synthetic hair. Great tutorial and easy to follow along. I'm going to try this sometime soon.

    Hi there! I wash and condition with an ayurvedic treatment/conditioner. Right before twisting, I apply conditioner (as a leave-in) and a hair butter or grease. After I finish twisting my hair, I spray (and spray) with either an aloe vera juice spritz or my care free curl gold hair and scalp spray. I hope this helped! :-)

  • How do you prep your hair before long-term styles? (like, moisturize-wise) I want to put some yarn twists in this weekend. I'm thinking: deep condition, use leave-in conditioner, and maybe some oil...but I haven't found anything perfect yet. I'd like to hear your response because you've done this style enough times to know (read: I think you're an expert :o} ) Thanks!
