If Only... :A Zameron One Shot Part 4

Flurries of snow whirled around me as I sat alone under a willow tree in a far away park. My tears had run dry long before I had reached that spot, yet my sobbing continued. The terrible weather left the park deserted, so I had no one to bother me as I wallowed in my misery.
Once the sun began to fall from the sky and hide behind the mountains in the distance, I considered going back, but the more I thought about it, the less appealing it sounded. I just wanted to huddle under that tree forever, or at least until I froze to death.
How could I have let this happen? How could I have let Cameron go? How could I have let Eric steal him away? How could this have happened?
All I had ever wanted was Cameron to be mine, but I was stupid and let my chance slip away.
"Zach?" I heard a familiar voice asking. Immediately it reminded me of why I was there in the first place.
"What do you want?" I practically growled.
"Oh thank God! I've been worried sick ever since you ran out on us!" the voice responded
"Why do you care? Why don't you just go hang out with your new boyfriend?" I countered harshly.
"He may be my boyfriend, but that doesn't mean I can't care about others..."
"But why do you care about me?"
"Because you're my friend."
"Is that what they call it these days?"
"Zach, why do you hate me so much? What have I ever done to you?"
I hesitated. The entire time I had had my head buried in my arms, which where resting on my bent knees. Finally I looked up and met my band mate's eyes. "You stole the man I love away from me," I responded in a broken voice.
A confused look shown on Eric's face, then slowly faded into understanding. "You love Cameron," he said knowingly. I nodded my head weakly in response.
Eric sat next to me with a sigh and wrapped his arms around my shoulders. I tried to squirm away, but once the warm of his body started to set it I couldn't resist moving closer.
"Zach, I am SO sorry, I had no idea. If I did, I swear I wouldn't have started the friends with benefits thing with him. I'll break up with him the second I get back to the hotel," he promised me.
"NO! Don't do that!" I argued. Once again, he looked confused, so I explained further. "I can't do that to him. I can't take away his happiness like that. If he wants you, I want him to have you, no matter how miserable it makes me. I love him too much to hurt him like that."
"Zach...you deserve Cameron. You're the one who should have him," he assured me.
"But he doesn't want me, does he? He wants you. So please, for me, stay with him. Protect him for me. Make him happy for me. Love him for me. Please?"
