So unbelievable, they kept shifting from Boro park to Manhattan, and Orthodox Jews don't live in dark homes. I watched part of the movie being filmed, and they make the Jews look like Amish people. Orthodox people have computers (like me!) and nice homes with normal cars, (I have a Ford Flex!!) and the rest of the movie shows how everything runs around the men and the REBBE, I don't think that my husband runs anything or anyone besides his office and his toilet!!lol. Jews have traditions!

She opened her arms in the end, and he climbed on and didn't even realize that she wasn't with him. That's very sad.

@shadowkitty56 These are all things that a husband is obligated to do with his wife. He is obligated to make her happy. It's possible to be scholarly but worldly at the same time.

The butcher isn't the most handsome or smartest or even most prestigious guy, but he is down to earth: he isn't constantly caught up on heaven's books (lofty ideas at a meatgrinder is a bad idea) and it would be no big deal if Sonia wants to share in his life as an assistant at the shop-he might even enjoy her company. Unlike Mendel, he'll come home, kiss her, shower to get the meat smell off, and maybe surprise her with flowers...not cerebral discussions about Halakha.

@RasMajnouni Other than that, it would probably have been better if Sonia's parents weren't so set on her marrying a scholar: the temperaments just do not match. Sonia probably would have been better off marrying somebody like a jeweler or kosher butcher:CONTINUED
he would have drove me nuts
