Sunday October 23, 2011. (Video by my hubby, David Hrencecin.)
Part of our spooky Halloween concert, this is "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd", from the musical, Sweeney Todd, by Stephen Sondheim.
The choir enters (creepily) down the middle aisle to the organ prelude. Then, the first soloist, Hans Royal-Hedinger, comes forward to begin the narration of the story. Then, the 2nd soloist, Jim Carter, continues the story. The choir then sings the chorus, and inbetween, other soloists continue the story - including Amy Butterer, Ross Cabin, Dominique Martin, Monica Blacconeri and Kim Vachon.
The song ends with actor, Aaron Hunt, as Sweeney.
Organ prelude played by Jay Peterson.
Piano accompaniment for the choir, by Julia Brueck.
As you will notice, we were all in costume for this concert - (And the audience was invited to dress up too). It was our most theatrical concert to date. We all had tremendous fun putting on this show, getting into the Halloween spirit, as well as enjoying the music.
There are 6 other videos of this concert - see related links.

OMG! *hyperventilating* 1. The tenor that starts it out=amazing. 2. I love that you're all in costumes. 3. The sopranos are VERY good, this piece is really difficult for sopranos, because it makes sing at the top of your range.
