@sheimers Thank you again. It is very interesting. 10,5 cm is even more than Betamax! (7,85cm). The drum diameter should be the same also for the SVR. It could afford much more than 240-250 lines, with a proper signal processing. It is a great piece of history of video recording pre-Betamax and VHS!

Tape-Format ist das? Ich mag Ihren Videorecorder. Grüße

Cool dieses Laufwerk. Und an welcher Stelle dort die Andruckrolle sitzt.

The sound is much more clearer than a VHS or Beta. Cheers.
Fact: I live in Montreal and the video club in front of my house is called Video 2000. What a coincidence.

Can I buy blank cassettes anywhere?
TheNewFormula 2 years ago
You can't buy new tapes, only used ones or NOS. And you need the ones for SVC. Older cassettes don't work, even if they have the same shape.

Can't you introduce mechanically a VCR cassette in a SVR recorder? Or only the recording system is different?
Tyco072 3 weeks ago
@Tyco072 Yes, you can insert old VCR cassettes, but the SVR4004 will refuse to work, there's a switch that detects the cassette type. But newer SVR tapes can be used in standard and longplay recorders, just the recordings can't be exchanged because of differing speeds and track alignments.

Thank you very much! I didn't knew this detail. How is the image quality compared to VHS and Betamax? I see that that the head drum seems to be very large. Do you know the measure of the diameter of the head drum? It would be very interesting to know.
Tyco072 3 weeks ago
@Tyco072 The image quality is slightly better than VHS. The head drum of the older VCR is 105mm, the SVR looks the same, but I didn't measure it. You can find more details about these systems in the german verison of Wikipedia.
