Isn't there a possibility that the first animals could have moved in the same way as for instance present flatworms, who flat animals often moving over the seafloor by using the cilia who are covering their body?

Rincewind: "Some of the rocks have all kind of yuk on them, if that's your idea of a good time."
Ridcully: "Yuk?"
Rincewind: "Yeah, you know. Gunge."

09:12, I don't really see why Dickinsonia would move slowly forward like a sea star if the tracks are like imprints rather than a long, feature poor track you would find after a snail. They may have swimmed up from the bottom and then swimmed to anothe place to gather food or something, and then swimmed to another location, and then another, and so on. This is only a guess, however.

Does any body think that "dickinsonia" was not a random name, but a well prepared one by a scientist who had a girlfriend named Sonia ????
